Preface

Located in the southernmost part of China's mainland, Guangdong is adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao with the South China Sea on the south. Guangdong is one of the first provinces in China that implement the reform and opening-up policies.

Guangdong Province has been keeping enterprising and forging ahead, endeavored to fully integrate and connect its economy with the international economic system, and participate in the international labor division, and thus formed an all-orientation, multi-level and wide-area opening structure. Its national economy development is sustained, rapid and healthy, and its comprehensive economic strength has kept a leading position for consecutive years. With a prosperous economy, a worldwide renowned export-oriented economy, stable society, and all flourishing construction undertakings, Guangdong Province has become one of the regions in China, which have the fastest economic development, the most advanced foreign economic cooperation and trade, the most dynamic markets and the strongest attraction for investment.

Driven by the development of informationization, Guangdong’s industrialization and urbanization are considerably promoted. Guangdong has generally realized a well-off society, and has built a solid material and technological base for a leading, faster and coordinated future development. At present, Guangdong is expediting the strategic restructuring of its economy by endeavoring to develop high and new technology industries with focus on information technology, to reform and enhance traditional industries with high and new technology, to speed up the development of automobile, petrochemical and modern service industries. Furthermore, it will promote the restructuring, upgrading and optimizing of its industrial structure, so as to strengthen our industrial competence in the world market. It will also accelerate the industrialization of agriculture and the integration of city and country, further expand the domestic demand, promote the coordinated development of different regions and eventually accelerate the sustainable development and the general social advancement.
